Accessibility Statement
Effective August 14, 2026
This is the accessibility statement for the Church on Jefferson Event Venue website. We want every guest to be able to plan an event with us, and that includes everyone who uses assistive technology to browse the web. This page explains where our site stands today, what we know still needs work, and how to reach a person if something gets in your way.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. WCAG defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully meet the standard. We publish this honestly rather than claiming full conformance, because we would rather tell you what to expect than have you discover it yourself.
Known limitations
We are aware of the following issues and are working to resolve them. If you run into something that is not on this list, please tell us using the contact details below.
- The light text on our blue buttons is below the contrast minimum. The "Schedule a Tour" button and our form submit buttons use light lettering on our brand blue, which does not yet meet the required ratio. The lettering is large and clear, but it may be harder to read on a phone in bright sunlight or on a lower quality screen.
- Some small blue text on light pages is below the contrast minimum. Our brand blue is used for a few small items, including the short labels above section headings, the highlighted item in the main menu, and some links inside paragraphs. On our light colour scheme these sit under the required ratio. If your device is set to dark mode, this one does not affect you.
Both remaining items involve our brand colour, so we are working through them carefully rather than quickly. Everything else found in our last review has been fixed, including the contrast of small supporting text, a date field that could be announced incorrectly by screen readers, and a link that was signalled by colour alone.
How we assessed this site
We evaluated this website by self-evaluation on August 14, 2026, running automated accessibility testing (axe-core) against every public page, in both our light and dark colour schemes. Automated testing reliably finds issues such as insufficient contrast, missing form labels, and improper use of assistive technology attributes, but it cannot catch everything. A full manual review, including testing with screen readers and keyboard-only navigation, has not yet been completed, so there may be barriers we have not yet identified. That is one reason your feedback matters.
What we have built in
The site is designed to be keyboard navigable, includes a skip-to-content link at the top of every page, uses semantic headings and landmarks, and provides descriptive text for images. Our venue itself is also accessible: the building is handicap accessible with a ramp at the northeast entrance. You can read more about parking and venue access on our FAQ page.
